Medieval and Post-Medieval Logic; Medieval Philosophy; Aquinas.
 
Education:
Professor Ashworth studied at Cambridge University and at Bryn Mawr College, where she received the Ph.D. in 1965.

Publications:

Articles of hers have appeared in various journals, including Archiv fur Geschichte der Philosophie, the Notre Dame Journal of Formal Logic, Dialogue, The American Philosophical Quarterly, The Journal of the History of Philosophy, Franciscan Studies, Vivarium, and The New Scholasticism. She has contributed to Cartesian Studies, a book of essays on Descartes; to the Cambridge History of Later Medieval Philosophy; and to the Cambridge History of Renaissance Philosophy. She is the author of Language and Logic in the Post-Medieval Period (D. Reidel Publishing Company, 1974); The Tradition of Medieval Logic and Speculative Grammar from Anselm to the End of the Seventeenth Century: A Bibliography from 1836 Onwards (Toronto: PIMS, 1978); and Studies in Post-Medieval Semantics (London: Variorum, 1985). Her most recent book is an edition and translation of Paul of Venice, Logica Magna Part II, Fascicule 8, (Oxford University Press, 1988). Professor Ashworth held a Killam Research Fellowship for two years, 1988-90 and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. She was recently Renaissance subject editor for The Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy (Summer 1998, 10 volumes).
