Graduate Program

The Philosophy Department at the University of Waterloo offers programs of study leading to the M.A. and Ph.D. At present, the department consists of 12 faculty members and about 30 graduate students. This high faculty/student ratio permits close and frequent contact between faculty and students. The Ph.D. program is specifically designed to make use of this by emphasizing individually-supervised research and area projects instead of set preliminary examinations. [see here]

Financial Support

Financial support for graduate study is currently available from federal, provincial and internal university sources. The department is able to offer up to $15,000 (Cdn.) per annum to an incoming student by combining scholarships and teaching assistantships. [see here]

The Campus

Situated on a beautiful campus in Waterloo, Ontario, the University is ranked among the best in Canada, has a student population of more than 25,000 (2,500 graduate students), and impressive research and computing facilities.
